march 19 2005: this weekend's splusp selection
Stream these recordings
Maybe this is going to be a tradition. Who knows? Anyway, it's the second time that De Zwervende Keien are making a saturday evening compilation with a little help of a bottle of red wine...
Popchoir The Muzerie - The Sea
(Twarres)
Old recording, posted before in the pre-52weeks time. I was behind the keyboard and conducting the choir with my face.
De Zwervende Keien - Java (rehearsal summer 1995)
Toby Rix - Performance on Dutch radio program "Music Hall" 1990-ies.
Yes, you might call this a Dutch Spike Jones (but slightly different of course :-)
Pupils - Ik heb talent (I'm talented)
Last thursday when I was recording the children's favourite songs in one of my music classes, three girls asked if they I could record this song that they had learned from another teacher.
Pupils Geert Grote School - Auditions for the solo on House of the Rising Sun
This is the splup group's direct influence on music lessons in Zwolle. The result of one of our discussions!
Splogman & pupils Geert Grote School - Noorse Bruiloft (Norwegian Wedding)
The pupils on the this recording are now former Geert Grote School Kids
Umeå Akademiska Kör - Vaarvindar_friska
After posting my version of "Norwegian wedding" in the splusp group with the question if this was truly a Norwegian song, we found out with the help of our Finnish friends that this almost certainly is a Swedish song: "This is the song that we (especially the choirs of the universities Lund and Uppsala) sing to greet the spring at 'Valborg' (the last day of April)".
More mp3s of this choir at at:
Umeå Akademiska Kör (Umeå Akademic Choir)
Group 7 Geert Grote School 2004/2005- Noorse Bruiloft
Same song recorded last week at the GGS as a preparation for a coming net-cd
Pretty Wacked - Renadine
Taken live from a radio broadcast 1980-ies. Isn't this beautifull?
Bonus track:
De Zingende Fresia's- Poep
(The singing Freesias-Shit) "And I shout: shit, shit, shit! Shit is what I shout!"
Wilma: "But why can't you add this song after you've sent the PR-mail?". Jan: "You're right, why not?

Berg & Burg - live at the city library of Zwolle today - Clementine
Toos Ligtenberg and Jan Turkenburg teaming up for the very first time and after hardly one hour of rehearsel early this morning. Jan left his microphone somewhere at a school and used the wrong settings for the spare mic, but a historical fact has been recorded and that's the most important thing.
