AAAAAAAARGH!!!!

The previous post was premature. I've decided not to continue splusp!!!!! anymore. I will be around on my Dutch website www.vreemdegeluiden.nl. You can stay informed by joining my yahoo group (if you hadn't already.) Overthere will be more compilations, compositions, mixes and radioshows from now on.
I'm still looking for a way to nicely preserve and archive splusp!!!!! at this URL. You'll find out soon what I've decided.
This is not a farewell, just slight a change in direction.

break

As usual I don't know when. Could be a week or a month, ... for the usual reasons: tired of blogging, need time for other things, etc... See you around.

Stars on 45 - Beatles medley

Ex- Golden Earring drummer Jaap Eggermont produced a series of "stars on 45-medleys"in the early eighties. He picked up artists who could imitate the originals as close as possible and threw the same intro and outro of his own each medley and a ferm disco-beat. more

Don't worry

You can easily leave your mobile phone in your trousers when you put them in the washing machine. After washing, centrifuging and heat-drying in between the laundry, just take it out, stay calm, don't shout, don't throw it out of the window or against the wall, but let it dry for another 24 hours on your desk, recharge it and voila, it'll work again.
More lessons of life, next weekend, or earlier.

Jawat feat. opgezwolle - zwarte koffie (black coffee)

Normally rap is not my favorite genre, but some of those rappers are really fantastic; no not the ones with the fancy cars, the rings and the half nude chicks, but the other ones and that's where this Dutch rapper, Jawat (=yes-what) is talking about: I'm not about tits and buns and how great I am, That's not the way I want to win the price. I'm just an ordinary worker who tells about his shit and the live of ordinary people. I don't mind that I have to scrubb floors occasionaly, cause it makes me strong like black coffee This song is featuring Opgezwolle (=swollen up), from Zwolle. The last guy in the clip is Ricardo, one of my well respected collegues

Memorials, celebrations and The Gunner's Dream

On May 4th in The Netherlands we memorize the deaths of world war 2 and since a few years also all the other Dutch victims of later and recent wars. Today, the 5th we celebrate freedom with a lot of pop-festivals in all the big cities, Zwolle having the biggest of them this year. These festivities are much too crowdy for me and above all, why go there when I can listen to two or three concerts simultaneously in my own backyard.

I've got mixed feelings about a lot of things in the media each year round this time. I also have had mixed feelings about this Roger Waters song (Yeah sure, it's officially a Pink Floyd song, but the other members of the band where not very much involved in this last album). On one hand I've got my own personal memories when hearing it, that have little to do with war (perhaps only metaphorically). It's a beautifull song, but on the other hand I'm not feeling comfortable with the way Waters tends to romanticize a soldier's live, with this kind of music and lyrics.

Still I like to listen to it ... and this video is well edited.

It's made by Grif McReynolds who edited fragments of the TV-series Band Of Brothers to go with the song. Feel free to give your opinion. I'm curious how other people feel about this:
