Another meaningless project but I do it for Elise
Version 1 by Tom Pegler"The versatile THOMAS PLAYMATE 1330 contains warm authentic voices at its heart . (...) To increase even further the scope and variety of music available, THOMAS have designed very unique modules which can be fitted to the PLAYMATE. These include the FANNY VOICE-to give you an exciting new world of instumental effects, the ORCHESTRAL PRESENCE-to make the PLAYMATE sound richer and grander, the ARPEGGIO MAGIC-to give the full keyboard arpeggio and the COLOR-GLO MUSIC SCANNER which gives a visual metronome with a moving light beam, that tells you what note to play, when to play it, and how long to hold it."
I'm the proud owner of a copy of this debut album signed by Tony Pegler himself. For this special occasion I offer you three download possibilities:

The Desperanto Mixes 4

Boudewijn de Groot's foreign versions of his songs allways stay very close to the meaning of the original. In this case, also in the German version, a father with his baby son on a bicycle, hoping the little one won't become a sucker player, for they might kick him halfway to death, but then again better that than being blinded by the businessman ... By the way it turns out to be quite unsettling listening to the same song in another language in each ear. Probably I'm confusing the language centre in my brain. I've decided that this is the last one for now. On to the next project...
The Desperanto Mixes 3
Singer-songwriter Robert Long released a few complete German versions of his originally Dutch language albums. In "het heet hier Holland" (Overhere it's called Holland) he describes the Dutch (eighties) society in a cynical way, but with a friendly little wink at the end. Michael Kunze translated it into a critical song on German society for Robert: "Bei uns herrscht Ordnung" (Overhere there's order) but as far as I can understand the friendly wink has disappaered completely.
I had to speed the German version up a semitone to match the exact tempo and pitch of the original.

The Desperanto Mixes 2
I had to fool around a bit with this one, because from the weird backwards guitar bit (which I reversed btw ;-) on the Dutch version had more measures. Again the lyrics have nothing to do with eachother.Kayak - Boezem vs Ballad for a lost friend:

In 1976 the Committee for the Collective Propaganda of the Dutch Book, made Dutch writer-poets and Dutch pop bands and singers meet to work on an album called: "Zing je moers taal" (Sing your mother tongue)

Ton Scherpenzeel (Kayak's composer, song-writer, keyboard, pianist, ...) made the music to a sonnet by Harry Mulisch, named "Boezem" (bosom) in which he compares man's longing for beauty and poetry with a baby's longing for his/her mother's breast.
One year later Kayak released the same song as Ballad for a lost friend on their album Starlight Dancer,

New Project: The Desperanto Mixes (1)
When living in Belgium with an international gang of friends I often spoke a mixture of French, Dutch, Flemmish, English and sometimes a bit of German: "Bitte, can you close de venster, ça tire ici!". We called it "desperanto".Listening to the Dutch corporate music show, I noticed a coporate song "Tank Esso mix" by The Shoes, which I know as their hit "Farewell in the rain". And this again reminded me of an idea I came op with long ago: mixing two versions of the same artist singing the same song in different languages together, each version in it's own side of the stereo panorama. I think this will be interesting, for sometimes they're using exactly the same instrumental backing tape, but sometimes, like on this one (a drum that only appaers in the Dutch channel) the backing tapes slightly differ and sometimes a band takes the effort to replay the whole song.

GOC 38 Dutch corporate records (part three)

Frits Jonker presented a three hours night show special round dutch corporate records on Dutch national radio, somewhere in the nineties. I recently found two and a half hours of it back on tape.
Splogic dictates that we'll start with the final half hour, not much talking, but a lot of weird recordings:

update may 25th: The first three minutes of this hour have been added, this leaves appr. 25 minutes still missing. If anyone has got the full last hour I would gladly get in touch.
Er ontbreken ongeveer 25 minuten van deze uitzending, als iemand de volledige opname heeft van het laatste uur van dit programma van Frits Jonker over reclameplaatjes, dan zou ik daar graag mee in contact komen.

Chenard And The Sand : C-Side
The Sand was already working on the C-side when Chenard came by. They first did overdubs on a unfinished cut from the Moo sessions, Butterflying, but they soon landed and dived deep into the C for the next three tracks. One-Armed is based on guitar patterns recorded by Geoffroy Vincens. http://www.freesamplezone.org/fsz048.htm
This is the sound of C. The sound which creates a new dimension. This is a new style of music. So, don't miss the making-of.

Guitar music in various styles on Radio Zwolle
Today I will present another episode of Radio Zwolle Klassiek, I've got two live guests:
- Tjitske Houben, 11 years old, guitarist in the Geert Grote School orchestra
- Annette Kruisbrink, guitarist, composer (listen to Janua and The Chippewyan Naildance ), professor in contemporary music and ethnic music at the music academy Zwolle. Annette publishes guitar teaching methods for kids, which she illustrates herself. There will be music in various styles, a lot of guitar music of course and part of it is also a surprise to me, because I leave that up to Annette. Finally there's music from some-one I recently met on the net: Brent Tucker semi professional arranger and guitarist.
Listen to his "Twinkle twinkle, my guitar" http://www.archive.org/download/FirstPost/twinkle.mp3
I think this will be a fun broadcast
