Numerology

The catalog number may be [WM020] but the brandnew Numerology compilationreally is our 25th release!

What is Numerology, you ask?
According to the Britannica Concise Encyclopedia "modern numerology attachesa series of digits to an inquirer's name and uses these, along with the dateof birth, to reveal the person's true nature and prospects (using a methodanalogous to that of the Greek and Hebrew alphabets in which each letteralso represented a number).

"Well, you will probably ask, where does that leave us? Firmly in the past, Isuppose, but still, only gather 2, 3, 4 and 5 together, and the mumbo-jumboartists of the world will construct a theory, a conspiracy, or a piece ofmagic, that's where this compilation comes in: enjoy!

Numerology was expertly compiled and produced by Ton Rückert and featurestracks by Chenard Walcker, Lanark, Jan Turkenburg, Messer Chups, Fortyone, and 15 other artists. You can get the release here, completely free:

Current business

No, you're not mistaken. There was no splogcast last weekend. Nobody has send in a new one and I'm not making any myself for awhile. No that's not right, actually: I've made two splogcasts in Dutch for my pupils: les online 1 and les online 2.
Furthermore I've been making recordings at a reünion of the teacher's faculty of the music academy Zwolle last weekend: O-re-mi.mp3 and yesterday I've been listening to David Bowie's early work, to the music of D'r Sjaak, Muppetstuff and last but not least Sisterhood, a female vocal ensemble from Zwolle that recently was re-inforced by Toos Ligtenberg

splogcast 17 Robert Quine

As I told you in splogcast 17 I'm going to take it easy, for I'm concentrating on my children's music site. I've asked you to send in your own splogcasts. The first response comes from Remco Takken, who already produced two other shows.

Remco says about this splogcast:

"This could be a radio show with the title 'My Hero'. Guitarist Robert Quine has been with me since I was fifteen years old. I was listening to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground back then. Later, in the early nineties, when I spent much time with John Zorn's music, I rediscovered Quine, especially his feedbacking version of Once Upon A Time In The West, an Ennio Morricone piece played under Zorn's direction.
To me it feels that Robert Quine's musical growth took place in perfect parallel with my own. I kept bumping into him over the years. I don't think am a fan, but the music he produced sound like it's especially made for me.
I was devastated when I heard about his suicide in 2004. He was 63 years old when he took his life, not long after his wife died of cancer. I will take every opportunity I can get to say 'thank you' To Robert."
