Instead of a splogcast

There's no splogcast this week. I've put all my energy in a new and completely different (I think) splogwrought:

Statement of the week (offline)

I've used: keyboard, flute, spanish guitar and several samples

I hope you will enjoy it and if not I'm terribly sorry I've wasted your time ;-)

Sandor Vidak - From Budapest to New York

For 1 euro, I just had to buy this one for the sleeve, regardless of the music, which turns out to be not too bad. Sandor Vidak (I don't have a clue if he's still alive) was a very skilfull background pianist and entertainer.

Otis Fodder about outsider music

"There are so many sources to download the magic that is Outsider Music, and while not all of these websites cater strictly to the genre, they all are fun to visit regularly and fill your hard drive with love: WFMU, Weirdomusic, Splusp, PCL Linkdump, Pastor McPurvis' Weekly mp3 Talent Show, Oddio Overplay, Basic Hip, 365 Days and many others. And, to find other diamonds in the rough, check out the highly recommended (spyware free) file sharing application Soulseek (available for Windows, Linux and Mac)".

Otis Fodder writes in Mung being: "I won't go too deep in trying to describe "outsider music" when there are countless observations and explanations out there. Wikipedia writes, "Outsider music is music performed either by social outsiders, who have no or few associates in the mainstream music business, or by musicians who choose to live and work in seclusion, often due to compromising behavioral or psychological conditions." Irwin Chusid (who is noted for coining the term Outsider Music and has published a book on the subject) writes, "Outsider musicians are often termed 'bad' or 'inept' by listeners who judge them by the standards of mainstream popular music. Yet despite dodgy rhythms and a lack of conventional tunefulness, these often self-taught artists radiate an abundance of earnestness and passion." An easy to read interpretation of what the genre is not and what it is (or can be) can be found at the Outsider Music Mailing List website."
