| 1. Splogman -- 50 ways to do a cover |
I recorded this dutch language cover of a famous Simon song as an invitation for all readers of my weblog and members of my mailgroup to make a cover of their own.
| 2. Brett Singer -- Maggie's farm |
Brett was the first to send in a cover of his own.
| 3. Brett Singer -- Down by the river |
||
| 4. Thierno Barry & Friends -- House of the rising sun |
This is taken from my radioshow Vreemde Geluiden. From Senegal came singer/guitarplayer Thierno Barry. For this occasion I invited several local artists to have a jam-session with him
| 5. Weirdomusic -- White Rabbit |
Marco Kalnenek recorded this in the early 90's
| 6. Weirdomusic -- My Guitar wants to kill yer mama |
||
| 7. Brett Singer -- Rent |
||
| 8. Splogman -- Yellow Submarine |
One of those Beatle records where you could delete the singing by switching the balance to the left or right. I tried to stay as close to the original as possible
| 9. Splogman -- Mull of Kintyre |
Here I tried to drift as far as possible from the original...
| 10. Splogman -- La Bamba |
A song I used to perform with the Stepping Stone Visit. I allways played the flute and sing backing vocals, though. So I had to google for the words now
| 11. Mister J & Pupils GGS -- Yellow Submarine |
I've worked at the Geert Grote School as a music teacher for about ten years in total. Sometimes a class had so many talented kids that I could put my guitar down and just swithch them on.
| 12. Mister J & Pupils GGS -- La Bamba |
||
| 13. Brett Singer -- Mr. Tambourine man |
||
| 14. Splogman -- Fool on the hill |
One night I tried to find the chords to this song by ear and memory. Along the way this became one of my favourites on the project.
| 15. Splogman -- The one that I want |
||
| 16. Splogman -- Quo Vadis/New year's wishes |
||
| 17. Stepping Stone Visit -- Sloop John B. |
recorded in a trainwagon from Liege to Brussels
| 18. Splogman -- Michel |
||
| 19. Fudge -- Suck my kiss |
||
| 20. Fudge -- Avery M Powers memorial Beltway |
||
| 21. Fudge -- Clones (we're all) |
||
| 22. Ookoi -- Autobahn |
This incredible duo performed on my radioshow, one of it's members coming all the way from Paris. Hearing from this project they sent this cover in a few days later
| 23. Mister J & Pupils GGS -- Oh Darling |
||
| 24. Splogman -- Doctor Who |
||
| 25. Splogman and Mavis -- Ala Presi |
Mavis is a singer music teacher from Paramaribo. We met when we where both studying at the music academy in Zwolle. After getting her degree she went back to her home country, but once in a while she returns and during summer 2007 we sang this Surinam traditional in my radioshow.
| 26. Brett Singer -- Calender Girl |
||
| 27. Splogman and Mavis -- Winti winti |
Just after her study and just before she left Mavis recorded al the Surinam songs for kids she collected for her songbook 'Alonki' in 1976. These recordings however where a cappella and in 2007 I asked and got her permission to record other parts and instruments around them. Here 'winti' means "the wind".
| 28. Hebe -- Hallelujah |
||
| 29. Splogman -- You need to get things right |
Sebastian aka Mr Dantefontana wrote a rant and I can't remember who came up with the idea first, but several people put music to his tirade. I decided to take an old classic, haha!
| 30. Splogman -- Bobby never knows |
Mashing and mixing up Boney M and The Beatles. I can't remember how much alcohol was involved in getting inspiration for this one, but in the end I think I pulled it off rather adequately, don't you think?
| 31. Splogman -- We will rock you |
||
| 32. Splogman -- The lion sleeps tonight |
||
| 33. Mutterin Bullfrog Smith -- Like dreamers do |

||

| 40. Splogman -- 10538 overture |
||
| 41.Splogman -- I'm The Walrus |
||
| 42.Splogman -- King of the road |
||
| 43.Splogman -- Green back dollar |
||
| 44.Splogman -- Ouverture/Wil het zo graag |
Only thing left from one of many unfinished projects. The idea was to (re)create some kind of musical, based on a long cut and paste story that I recorded on six C90 cassettes for a friend in the late eighties.
| 45.Splogman & Foendoe -- Knockin on heaven's door |
||
| 46. Splogman -- Dreamer |
My ultimate ashes-to-ashes-funk-to-funky-we-know-major-Tom's-a-junky-rendition of one of the nicest songs ever

Here Wilma and I are rehearsing this song for the 'vernisage' of an exhibition in a New Age bookshop in Zwolle.
